Admission Guidelines 7.Icons/Solid/12.Dropdown Up Admission Criteria Admission decisions are based on: Alignment between the family’s educational goals and values with the JIS mission, vision, dispositions, values, and approaches to learning Ensuring a balance of diversity across grade levels and divisions The availability of resources to provide support and opportunities for the applicant Admissions Policy JIS welcomes learners who can benefit from and contribute to a high-quality elementary to secondary university preparatory curriculum. Students are eligible for admission if it is believed that JIS can meet their emotional, social, physical, and academic needs. Inclusion Policy JIS can offer places at each grade level to a limited number of students who require support services. Areas of support include speech and language services (elementary only), academic support, classroom guidance, and individual counseling. Admission is contingent upon a match between the student’s needs and the level of services available. For that reason, the admission of any student with identified needs (language or learning) is determined on a case-by-case basis using multiple sources of information, such as school records, evaluations, Individual Learning Plans, and in some cases an interview. Parents who have any reason to believe that the above policy would affect their child’s eligibility for admission should arrange for a comprehensive physical, academic, and psychological evaluation prior to making an application. Admissions Priority JIS groups applications into three Application Lanes. Lane 1: Dependents of employees of JIS founding embassies (United States, United Kingdom, and Australia), and eligible dependents of JIS faculty. Lane 2: Expatriate or host country students coming from overseas who do not yet have a school in Jakarta. Lane 3: Expatriate or host country students transferring from a local or international school in the Greater Jakarta area (JABODETABEK). Applications in this lane have a deadline of March 1 and is for August enrollment only. Admission to the Early Years Early Years students must be fully toilet trained prior to admission. Early Years students will meet with an Admissions Representative for an initial assessment of developmentally appropriate milestones and will continue to be assessed throughout the school year. Elementary Campus Placement JIS reserves the right to make the final Elementary campus placement according to capacity. Grade Placement Please click here to view our Grade Placement Table. In the Early Years, there are no exceptions to these age requirements .From Grade 1 onward, grade placement is based on grade levels completed at an accredited school. To be eligible for admission to High School, an applicant must be able to complete graduation requirements prior to turning 21 years of age Placement of students coming from a different Academic Calendar Students who arrive after the JIS school year has started will continue in the grade level in which they were enrolled as of August of the current JIS school year. For example, a student from Australia who is in Grade 1 in August 2022 will continue in Grade 1 at JIS if they join during the 2022/23 school year. Ministry of Education Requirements As an Indonesian school under the auspices of the Ministry of Education (MoE), is committed to following MoE rules and regulations.
